Preamble
With the folÂlowÂing priÂvacy polÂicy we would like to inÂform you which types of your perÂsonal data (hereÂinafter also abÂbreÂviÂated as “data”) we process for which purÂposes and in which scope. The priÂvacy stateÂment apÂplies to all proÂcessÂing of perÂsonal data carÂried out by us, both in the conÂtext of proÂvidÂing our serÂvices and in parÂticÂuÂlar on our webÂsites, in moÂbile apÂpliÂcaÂtions and within exÂterÂnal onÂline presÂences, such as our soÂcial meÂdia proÂfiles (hereÂinafter colÂlecÂtively reÂferred to as “onÂline serÂvices”).
The terms used are not genÂder-speÂcific.
The content, structure and design of the LX Design Studio e.U. website are protected by copyright. The duplication, modification, representation, distribution, transmission, publication, sale, licensing, processing, alienation or use of information or data for any purpose whatsoever, in particular the use of texts, parts of texts or images, requires the prior written consent of LX Design Studio e.U.
Legal Bases for the Processing
In the folÂlowÂing, you will find an overview of the leÂgal baÂsis of the GDPR on which we base the proÂcessÂing of perÂsonal data. Please note that in adÂdiÂtion to the proÂviÂsions of the GDPR, naÂtional data proÂtecÂtion proÂviÂsions of your or our counÂtry of resÂiÂdence or domiÂcile may apÂply. If, in adÂdiÂtion, more speÂcific leÂgal bases are apÂplicÂaÂble in inÂdiÂvidÂual cases, we will inÂform you of these in the data proÂtecÂtion deÂcÂlaÂraÂtion.
- Content (Article 6 (1) (a) GDPR) – The data subÂject has given conÂsent to the proÂcessÂing of his or her perÂsonal data for one or more speÂcific purÂposes.
- Performance of a contract and prior requests (Article 6 (1) (b) GDPR) – • PerÂforÂmance of a conÂtract to which the data subÂject is party or in orÂder to take steps at the reÂquest of the data subÂject prior to enÂterÂing into a conÂtract.
- Compliance with a legal obligation (Article 6 (1) (c) GDPR) – ProÂcessÂing is necÂesÂsary for comÂpliÂance with a leÂgal obligÂaÂtion to which the conÂtroller is subÂject.
- Legitimate Interests (Article 6 (1) (f) GDPR) – ProÂcessÂing is necÂesÂsary for the purÂposes of the leÂgitÂiÂmate inÂterÂests purÂsued by the conÂtroller or by a third party, exÂcept where such inÂterÂests are overÂridÂden by the inÂterÂests or funÂdaÂmenÂtal rights and freeÂdoms of the data subÂject which reÂquire proÂtecÂtion of perÂsonal data.
In adÂdiÂtion to the data proÂtecÂtion regÂuÂlaÂtions of the GenÂeral Data ProÂtecÂtion RegÂuÂlaÂtion, naÂtional regÂuÂlaÂtions apÂply to data proÂtecÂtion in AusÂtria. This inÂcludes in parÂticÂuÂlar the FedÂeral Act on the ProÂtecÂtion of InÂdiÂvidÂuÂals with reÂgard to the ProÂcessÂing of PerÂsonal Data (Data ProÂtecÂtion Act – DSG). In parÂticÂuÂlar, the Data ProÂtecÂtion Act conÂtains speÂcial proÂviÂsions on the right of acÂcess, recÂtiÂfiÂcaÂtion or canÂcelÂlaÂtion, proÂcessÂing of speÂcial catÂeÂgories of perÂsonal data, proÂcessÂing for other purÂposes and transÂmisÂsion and auÂtoÂmated deÂciÂsion makÂing in inÂdiÂvidÂual cases.
Security Precautions
We take apÂproÂpriÂate techÂniÂcal and orÂganÂiÂsaÂtional meaÂsures in acÂcorÂdance with the leÂgal reÂquireÂments, takÂing into acÂcount the state of the art, the costs of imÂpleÂmenÂtaÂtion and the naÂture, scope, conÂtext and purÂposes of proÂcessÂing as well as the risk of varyÂing likeÂliÂhood and severÂity for the rights and freeÂdoms of natÂural perÂsons, in orÂder to enÂsure a level of seÂcuÂrity apÂproÂpriÂate to the risk.
The meaÂsures inÂclude, in parÂticÂuÂlar, safeÂguardÂing the conÂfiÂdenÂtialÂity, inÂtegrity and availÂabilÂity of data by conÂtrolÂling physÂiÂcal and elecÂtronic acÂcess to the data as well as acÂcess to, inÂput, transÂmisÂsion, seÂcurÂing and sepÂaÂraÂtion of the data. In adÂdiÂtion, we have esÂtabÂlished proÂceÂdures to enÂsure that data subÂjects’ rights are reÂspected, that data is erased, and that we are preÂpared to reÂspond to data threats rapidly. FurÂtherÂmore, we take the proÂtecÂtion of perÂsonal data into acÂcount as early as the deÂvelÂopÂment or seÂlecÂtion of hardÂware, softÂware and serÂvice providers, in acÂcorÂdance with the prinÂciÂple of priÂvacy by deÂsign and priÂvacy by deÂfault.
SSL enÂcrypÂtion (https): In orÂder to proÂtect your data transÂmitÂted via our onÂline serÂvices in the best posÂsiÂble way, we use SSL enÂcrypÂtion. You can recÂogÂnize such enÂcrypted conÂnecÂtions by the preÂfix https:// in the adÂdress bar of your browser.
Transmission of Personal Data
In the conÂtext of our proÂcessÂing of perÂsonal data, it may hapÂpen that the data is transÂferred to other places, comÂpaÂnies or perÂsons or that it is disÂclosed to them. ReÂcipÂiÂents of this data may inÂclude, for exÂamÂple, serÂvice providers comÂmisÂsioned with IT tasks or providers of serÂvices and conÂtent that are emÂbedÂded in a webÂsite. In such a case, the leÂgal reÂquireÂments will be reÂspected and in parÂticÂuÂlar corÂreÂspondÂing conÂtracts or agreeÂments, which serve the proÂtecÂtion of your data, will be conÂcluded with the reÂcipÂiÂents of your data.
Data Processing Third Countries
If we process data in a third counÂtry (i.e. outÂside the EuÂroÂpean Union (EU), the EuÂroÂpean EcoÂnomic Area (EEA)) or the proÂcessÂing takes place in the conÂtext of the use of third party serÂvices or disÂcloÂsure or transÂfer of data to other perÂsons, bodÂies or comÂpaÂnies, this will only take place in acÂcorÂdance with the leÂgal reÂquireÂments.
SubÂject to exÂpress conÂsent or transÂfer reÂquired by conÂtract or law, we process or have processed the data only in third counÂtries with a recogÂnised level of data proÂtecÂtion, on the baÂsis of speÂcial guarÂanÂtees, such as a conÂtracÂtual obligÂaÂtion through so-called stanÂdard proÂtecÂtion clauses of the EU ComÂmisÂsion or if cerÂtiÂfiÂcaÂtions or bindÂing inÂterÂnal data proÂtecÂtion regÂuÂlaÂtions jusÂtify the proÂcessÂing (ArÂtiÂcle 44 to 49 GDPR, inÂforÂmaÂtion page of the EU ComÂmisÂsion: https://ec.euÂropa.eu/info/law/law-topic/data-proÂtecÂtion/inÂterÂnaÂtional-diÂmenÂsion-data-proÂtecÂtion_en)
Erasure of data
The data processed by us will be erased in acÂcorÂdance with the statuÂtory proÂviÂsions as soon as their proÂcessÂing is reÂvoked or other perÂmisÂsions no longer apÂply (e.g. if the purÂpose of proÂcessÂing this data no longer apÂplies or they are not reÂquired for the purÂpose).
If the data is not deleted beÂcause they are reÂquired for other and legally perÂmisÂsiÂble purÂposes, their proÂcessÂing is limÂited to these purÂposes. This means that the data will be reÂstricted and not processed for other purÂposes. This apÂplies, for exÂamÂple, to data that must be stored for comÂmerÂcial or tax reaÂsons or for which storÂage is necÂesÂsary to asÂsert, exÂerÂcise or deÂfend leÂgal claims or to proÂtect the rights of anÂother natÂural or leÂgal perÂson.
In the conÂtext of our inÂforÂmaÂtion on data proÂcessÂing, we may proÂvide users with furÂther inÂforÂmaÂtion on the deleÂtion and reÂtenÂtion of data that is speÂcific to the reÂspecÂtive proÂcessÂing opÂerÂaÂtion.
Use of Cookies
CookÂies are small text files or other data records that store inÂforÂmaÂtion on end deÂvices and read inÂforÂmaÂtion from the end deÂvices. For exÂamÂple, to store the loÂgin staÂtus in a user acÂcount, the conÂtents of a shopÂping cart in an e-shop, the conÂtents acÂcessed or the funcÂtions used. CookÂies can also be used for varÂiÂous purÂposes, e.g. for purÂposes of funcÂtionÂalÂity, seÂcuÂrity and conÂveÂnience of onÂline ofÂfers as well as the creÂation of analyÂses of visÂiÂtor flows.
Information on consent: We use cookÂies in acÂcorÂdance with the statuÂtory proÂviÂsions. ThereÂfore, we obÂtain prior conÂsent from users, exÂcept when it is not reÂquired by law. In parÂticÂuÂlar, conÂsent is not reÂquired if the storÂage and readÂing of inÂforÂmaÂtion, inÂcludÂing cookÂies, is strictly necÂesÂsary in orÂder to proÂvide an inÂforÂmaÂtion soÂciÂety serÂvice exÂplicÂitly reÂquested by the subÂscriber or user. The reÂvoÂcaÂble conÂsent will be clearly comÂmuÂniÂcated to the user and will conÂtain the inÂforÂmaÂtion on the reÂspecÂtive cookie use.
Information on legal bases under data protection law: The leÂgal baÂsis unÂder data proÂtecÂtion law on which we process users’ perÂsonal data with the use of cookÂies deÂpends on whether we ask users for conÂsent. If users conÂsent, the leÂgal baÂsis for proÂcessÂing their data is their deÂclared conÂsent. OthÂerÂwise, the data processed with the help of cookÂies is processed on the baÂsis of our leÂgitÂiÂmate inÂterÂests (e.g. in a busiÂness opÂerÂaÂtion of our onÂline serÂvices and imÂproveÂment of its usÂabilÂity) or, if this is done in the conÂtext of the fulÂfillÂment of our conÂtracÂtual obligÂaÂtions, if the use of cookÂies is necÂesÂsary to fulÂfill our conÂtracÂtual obligÂaÂtions. For which purÂposes the cookÂies are processed by us, we do clarÂify in the course of this priÂvacy polÂicy or in the conÂtext of our conÂsent and proÂcessÂing proÂceÂdures.
Retention period: With reÂgard to the reÂtenÂtion peÂriod, a disÂtincÂtion is drawn beÂtween the folÂlowÂing types of cookÂies:
- Temporary cookies (also known as “session cookies”): TemÂpoÂrary cookÂies are deleted at the latÂest afÂter a user has left an onÂline serÂvice and closed his or her end deÂvice (i.e. browser or moÂbile apÂpliÂcaÂtion).
- Permanent cookies: PerÂmaÂnent cookÂies reÂmain stored even afÂter the terÂmiÂnal deÂvice is closed. For exÂamÂple, the loÂgin staÂtus can be saved, or preÂferred conÂtent can be disÂplayed diÂrectly when the user visÂits a webÂsite again. LikeÂwise, user data colÂlected with the help of cookÂies can be used for reach meaÂsureÂment. UnÂless we proÂvide users with exÂplicit inÂforÂmaÂtion about the type and storÂage duÂraÂtion of cookÂies (e.g., as part of obÂtainÂing conÂsent), users should asÂsume that cookÂies are perÂmaÂnent and that the storÂage peÂriod can be up to two years.
General information on revocation and objection (opt-out): Users can reÂvoke the conÂsent they have given at any time and also file an obÂjecÂtion to proÂcessÂing in acÂcorÂdance with the leÂgal reÂquireÂments in Art. 21 DSÂGVO (furÂther inÂforÂmaÂtion on obÂjecÂtion is proÂvided as part of this priÂvacy polÂicy). Users can also deÂclare their obÂjecÂtion by means of the setÂtings of their browser, e.g. by deÂacÂtiÂvatÂing the use of cookÂies (whereby this may also limit the funcÂtionÂalÂity of our onÂline serÂvices). An obÂjecÂtion to the use of cookÂies for onÂline marÂketÂing purÂposes, can also be deÂclared via the webÂsites https://optout.aboutads.info and https://www.youronÂlineÂchoices.com/. In adÂdiÂtion, users can reÂceive furÂther obÂjecÂtion noÂtices from us at apÂproÂpriÂate points as part of the inÂforÂmaÂtion on the serÂvice providers and cookÂies used.
Further information on processing methods, procedures and services used:
- Processing Cookie Data on the Basis of Consent: We use a cookie manÂageÂment soÂluÂtion in which users’ conÂsent to the use of cookÂies, or the proÂceÂdures and providers menÂtioned in the cookie manÂageÂment soÂluÂtion, can be obÂtained, manÂaged and reÂvoked by the users. The deÂcÂlaÂraÂtion of conÂsent is stored so that it does not have to be reÂtrieved again and the conÂsent can be proven in acÂcorÂdance with the leÂgal obligÂaÂtion. StorÂage can take place server-sided and/or in a cookie (so-called opt-out cookie or with the aid of comÂpaÂraÂble techÂnoloÂgies) in orÂder to be able to asÂsign the conÂsent to a user or and/or his/her deÂvice. SubÂject to inÂdiÂvidÂual deÂtails of the providers of cookie manÂageÂment serÂvices, the folÂlowÂing inÂforÂmaÂtion apÂplies: The duÂraÂtion of the storÂage of the conÂsent can be up to two years. In this case, a pseuÂdoÂnyÂmous user idenÂtiÂfier is formed and stored with the date/time of conÂsent, inÂforÂmaÂtion on the scope of the conÂsent (e.g. which catÂeÂgories of cookÂies and/or serÂvice providers) as well as the browser, sysÂtem and used end deÂvice.

Collection of Access Data and Log Files:
- We, ourÂselves or our web hostÂing provider, colÂlect data on the baÂsis of each acÂcess to the server (so-called server log files). Server log files may inÂclude the adÂdress and name of the web pages and files acÂcessed, the date and time of acÂcess, data volÂumes transÂferred, noÂtiÂfiÂcaÂtion of sucÂcessÂful acÂcess, browser type and verÂsion, the user’s opÂerÂatÂing sysÂtem, reÂferÂrer URL (the preÂviÂously visÂited page) and, as a genÂeral rule, IP adÂdresses and the reÂquestÂing provider. The server log files can be used for seÂcuÂrity purÂposes, e.g. to avoid overÂloadÂing the servers (esÂpeÂcially in the case of abuÂsive atÂtacks, so-called DDoS atÂtacks) and to enÂsure the staÂbilÂity and opÂtiÂmal load balÂancÂing of the servers; ReÂtenÂtion peÂriod: Log file inÂforÂmaÂtion is stored for a maxÂiÂmum peÂriod of 30 days and then deleted or anonymized. Data, the furÂther storÂage of which is necÂesÂsary for evÂiÂdence purÂposes, are exÂcluded from deleÂtion unÂtil the reÂspecÂtive inÂciÂdent has been fiÂnally clarÂiÂfied.
- We process perÂsonal data for the purÂposes of onÂline marÂketÂing, which may inÂclude in parÂticÂuÂlar the marÂketÂing of adÂverÂtisÂing space or the disÂplay of adÂverÂtisÂing and other conÂtent (colÂlecÂtively reÂferred to as “ConÂtent”) based on the poÂtenÂtial inÂterÂests of users and the meaÂsureÂment of their efÂfecÂtiveÂness.
For these purÂposes, so-called user proÂfiles are creÂated and stored in a file (so-called “cookie”) or simÂiÂlar proÂceÂdure in which the relÂeÂvant user inÂforÂmaÂtion for the disÂplay of the aforeÂmenÂtioned conÂtent is stored. This inÂforÂmaÂtion may inÂclude, for exÂamÂple, conÂtent viewed, webÂsites visÂited, onÂline netÂworks used, comÂmuÂniÂcaÂtion partÂners and techÂniÂcal inÂforÂmaÂtion such as the browser used, comÂputer sysÂtem used and inÂforÂmaÂtion on usÂage times and used funcÂtions. If users have conÂsented to the colÂlecÂtion of their sideÂline data, these can also be processed.
The IP adÂdresses of the users are also stored. HowÂever, we use proÂvided IP maskÂing proÂceÂdures (i.e. pseuÂdoÂnymiÂsaÂtion by shortÂenÂing the IP adÂdress) to enÂsure the proÂtecÂtion of the user’s by usÂing a pseuÂdoÂnym. In genÂeral, within the frameÂwork of the onÂline marÂketÂing process, no clear user data (such as e-mail adÂdresses or names) is seÂcured, but pseuÂdoÂnyms. This means that we, as well as the providers of onÂline marÂketÂing proÂceÂdures, do not know the acÂtual idenÂtity of the users, but only the inÂforÂmaÂtion stored in their proÂfiles.
The inÂforÂmaÂtion in the proÂfiles is usuÂally stored in the cookÂies or simÂiÂlar memÂoÂrizÂing proÂceÂdures. These cookÂies can later, genÂerÂally also on other webÂsites that use the same onÂline marÂketÂing techÂnolÂogy, be read and anÂaÂlyzed for purÂposes of conÂtent disÂplay, as well as supÂpleÂmented with other data and stored on the server of the onÂline marÂketÂing techÂnolÂogy provider.
ExÂcepÂtionÂally, clear data can be asÂsigned to the proÂfiles. This is the case, for exÂamÂple, if the users are memÂbers of a soÂcial netÂwork whose onÂline marÂketÂing techÂnolÂogy we use and the netÂwork links the proÂfiles of the users in the aforeÂmenÂtioned data. Please note that users may enÂter into adÂdiÂtional agreeÂments with the soÂcial netÂwork providers or other serÂvice providers, e.g. by conÂsentÂing as part of a regÂisÂtraÂtion process.
As a matÂter of prinÂciÂple, we only gain acÂcess to sumÂmarised inÂforÂmaÂtion about the perÂforÂmance of our adÂverÂtiseÂments. HowÂever, within the frameÂwork of so-called conÂverÂsion meaÂsureÂment, we can check which of our onÂline marÂketÂing processes have led to a so-called conÂverÂsion, i.e. to the conÂcluÂsion of a conÂtract with us. The conÂverÂsion meaÂsureÂment is used alone for the perÂforÂmance analyÂsis of our marÂketÂing acÂtivÂiÂties.
UnÂless othÂerÂwise stated, we kindly ask you to conÂsider that cookÂies used will be stored for a peÂriod of two years.
Contact and Inquiry Management
When conÂtactÂing us (e.g. via conÂtact form, e-mail, teleÂphone or via soÂcial meÂdia) as well as in the conÂtext of exÂistÂing user and busiÂness reÂlaÂtionÂships, the inÂforÂmaÂtion of the inÂquirÂing perÂsons is processed to the exÂtent necÂesÂsary to reÂspond to the conÂtact reÂquests and any reÂquested meaÂsures.
The reÂsponse to the conÂtact inÂquiries as well as the manÂageÂment of conÂtact and inÂquiry data in the conÂtext of conÂtracÂtual or pre-conÂtracÂtual reÂlaÂtionÂships is carÂried out to fulÂfill our conÂtracÂtual obligÂaÂtions or to reÂspond to (pre)conÂtracÂtual inÂquiries and othÂerÂwise on the baÂsis of leÂgitÂiÂmate inÂterÂests in reÂspondÂing to the inÂquiries and mainÂtainÂing user or busiÂness reÂlaÂtionÂships.
- Processed data types: InÂvenÂtory data (e.g. names, adÂdresses); ConÂtact data (e.g. e-mail, teleÂphone numÂbers); ConÂtent data (e.g. text inÂput, phoÂtographs, videos).
- Data subjects: ComÂmuÂniÂcaÂtion partÂner (ReÂcipÂiÂents of e-mails, letÂters, etc.).
- Purposes of Processing: ConÂtact reÂquests and comÂmuÂniÂcaÂtion.
- Legal Basis: PerÂforÂmance of a conÂtract and prior reÂquests (ArÂtiÂcle 6 (1) (b) GDPR); LeÂgitÂiÂmate InÂterÂests (ArÂtiÂcle 6 (1) (f) GDPR)
Further information on processing methods, procedures and services used:
- Google Ad Manager: We use the “Google MarÂketÂing PlatÂform” (and serÂvices like “Google Ad ManÂager”) to place ads in the Google adÂverÂtisÂing netÂwork (e.g., in search reÂsults, in videos, on webÂsites, etc.). The Google MarÂketÂing PlatÂform” is charÂacÂterised by the fact that ads are disÂplayed in real time acÂcordÂing to the preÂsumed inÂterÂests of the users. This alÂlows us to disÂplay ads for and within our onÂline serÂvices in a more tarÂgeted manÂner in orÂder to preÂsent users only with ads that poÂtenÂtially match their inÂterÂests. We also meaÂsure the conÂverÂsion of the ads (so called “KonÂverÂsion”). HowÂever, we only know the anonyÂmous toÂtal numÂber of users who clicked on our ad and were rediÂrected to a page tagged with a conÂverÂsion trackÂing tag. Profiles in Social Networks (Social Media)
We mainÂtain onÂline presÂences within soÂcial netÂworks and process user data in this conÂtext in orÂder to comÂmuÂniÂcate with the users acÂtive there or to ofÂfer inÂforÂmaÂtion about us.
We would like to point out that user data may be processed outÂside the EuÂroÂpean Union. This may enÂtail risks for users, e.g. by makÂing it more difÂfiÂcult to enÂforce users’ rights.
In adÂdiÂtion, user data is usuÂally processed within soÂcial netÂworks for marÂket reÂsearch and adÂverÂtisÂing purÂposes. For exÂamÂple, user proÂfiles can be creÂated on the baÂsis of user beÂhavÂiour and the asÂsoÂciÂated inÂterÂests of users. The user proÂfiles can then be used, for exÂamÂple, to place adÂverÂtiseÂments within and outÂside the netÂworks which are preÂsumed to corÂreÂspond to the inÂterÂests of the users. For these purÂposes, cookÂies are usuÂally stored on the user’s comÂputer, in which the user’s usÂage beÂhavÂiour and inÂterÂests are stored. FurÂtherÂmore, data can be stored in the user proÂfiles inÂdeÂpenÂdently of the deÂvices used by the users (esÂpeÂcially if the users are memÂbers of the reÂspecÂtive netÂworks or will beÂcome memÂbers later on).
For a deÂtailed deÂscripÂtion of the reÂspecÂtive proÂcessÂing opÂerÂaÂtions and the opt-out opÂtions, please reÂfer to the reÂspecÂtive data proÂtecÂtion deÂcÂlaÂraÂtions and inÂforÂmaÂtion proÂvided by the providers of the reÂspecÂtive netÂworks.
Also in the case of reÂquests for inÂforÂmaÂtion and the exÂerÂcise of rights of data subÂjects, we point out that these can be most efÂfecÂtively purÂsued with the providers. Only the providers have acÂcess to the data of the users and can diÂrectly take apÂproÂpriÂate meaÂsures and proÂvide inÂforÂmaÂtion. If you still need help, please do not hesÂiÂtate to conÂtact us.
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. Terminology and Definitions
This section provides an overview of the terms used in this Privacy Policy. Many of the terms are taken from the law and are mainly defined in Article 4 GDPR. The legal definitions are binding. The following explanations, on the other hand, are primarily for the purpose of understanding. The terms are listed in alphabetical order.
Affiliate Tracking: Custom Audiences refers to the process of determining target groups for advertising purposes, e.g., the display of advertisements. For example, based on a user’s interest in certain products or topics on the Internet, it can be concluded that the user is interested in advertising for similar products or the online store where the user viewed the products. “Lookalike Audiences” is the term used to describe content deemed appropriate by users whose profiles or interests are believed to match those of the users for whom the profiles were created. Cookies and web beacons are typically used to create Custom Audiences and Lookalike Audiences.
Controller: “Controller” means the natural or legal person, public authority, agency or other body which alone or jointly with others determines the purposes and means of the processing of personal data.
Conversion Tracking: Conversion tracking is a method of evaluating the effectiveness of marketing activities. For this purpose, a cookie is usually stored on users’ devices within the websites on which the marketing measures take place and then retrieved on the target website (this enables us, for example, to track whether the advertising we have placed on other websites has been successful).
Custom Audiences: Targeting (or “Custom Audiences”) is the term used when target groups are determined for advertising purposes, e.g., for displaying advertisements. For example, based on a user’s interest in certain products or topics on the Internet, it can be concluded that this user is interested in advertising for similar products or the online store where he or she viewed the products. Lookalike Audiences” (or similar audiences) is the term used to describe content that is considered appropriate by users whose profiles or interests are believed to match those of the users for whom the profiles were created. Cookies are typically used to create Custom Audiences and Lookalike Audiences. Audiences can be created by processing visitors to an online service or uploaded via upload to the provider of an online marketing technology (which is usually done pseudonymously).
Personal data: “Personal data” means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (“data subject”); an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person.
Processing: the term “processing” covers a broad spectrum and virtually any handling of data, whether collection, analysis, storage, transmission or deletion.
Profiles with user-related information: Processing of “profiles with user-related information,” or “profiles” for short, includes any type of automated processing of personal data that consists of using such personal data to analyze, evaluate, or predict certain personal aspects relating to a natural person (depending on the type of profiling, this may include various information on demographics, behavior, and interests, such as interaction with websites and their content, etc.) (e.g., interest in certain content or products, click behavior on a website, or location). Cookies and web beacons are often used for profiling.
Remarketing: “Remarketing” or “retargeting” is used, for example, to indicate for advertising purposes which products a user was interested in on a website in order to remind him or her of these products on other websites, e.g. in ads.
